I Ching · The Book of Changes

Privacy policy

Last updated: 28 October 2026

Pre-release draft. This policy reflects the current app architecture but must be checked against the final release build, purchase integration and Google Play Data safety declarations before publication. The support email must also be activated before launch.

Who we are

Brentford Lab develops I Ching, a mobile application for reflection using the Book of Changes. For privacy questions, contact [email protected].

What stays on your device

Your questions, hexagram readings and saved Journal entries are handled locally on your device. Your questions and Journal content are not sent to Brentford Lab's servers or to the purchase service. The app does not require an account to cast coins or read its bundled content.

The app also stores settings and information used to determine how many free readings are available. These are stored locally. The app does not provide cloud synchronisation of Journal entries.

Purchases and third-party services

Optional Lifetime Premium purchases are processed through Google Play Billing and RevenueCat. These services may process anonymous app-user identifiers, purchase and entitlement records, and related technical information to complete, validate or restore purchases. We do not receive your payment-card details.

For more information, see Google's Privacy Policy and RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.

Analytics and advertising

The current application design does not include third-party advertising or analytics SDKs. We do not sell your questions, readings or Journal content.

Support messages

If you email us, we receive the information you choose to share, including your email address and message. We use it to respond to your enquiry and handle support correspondence. Email may be processed by our email forwarding and mailbox providers.

Storage, retention and deletion

Journal entries remain on your device until you delete them or remove the app's stored data. You can delete saved readings from the Journal. Clearing application storage or uninstalling the app may permanently remove locally stored content; the current version does not offer a cloud backup.

Purchase records are managed by Google Play and RevenueCat under their applicable retention policies. If you contact us for support, you can request deletion of correspondence we hold, subject to any applicable legal obligations.

Security and international processing

We aim to minimise the personal information processed by the app. Purchase and email providers may process relevant data in countries outside the United Kingdom under their own privacy and security arrangements.

Your choices and rights

You can use the core app without creating an account, choose whether to save a reading, and delete locally stored Journal entries. For privacy questions or requests concerning information we hold in support correspondence, email [email protected]. You may also have rights under applicable data protection law, including access, correction and erasure where relevant.

Changes to this policy

We may update this page when the app's functionality or service providers change. The latest version and its revision date will be available here.
